After reading an article about reactions to some of Trump’s absolutely insane cabinet picks, I realized that once again we will be at the mercy of Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski to fend off the worst of him. I’d forgotten they both existed. God, I hope they still have any spine left at all. They never had much, but the bit they had was often all that was standing between us and some terrible, terrible decisions.

I don't like it, I'm done with the Treason Party, but I get that she probably thinks she needs to appeal to "moderates" and appear "bipartisan".

Its probably safe to assume that it would be a Never Trumper. In that case, I would suggest maybe Adam Kinzinger- there's a lot I disagree with him on, but he's one of the most prominent never Trumpers who's really put his money where his mouth is, and actively campaigned against Trump/for Democrats (unlike Murkowski, Liz Cheney, Romney, etc).

Judge Luttig might be acceptable too, if willing to leave retirement. Or perhaps they could pull a short list from the 200+ Bush, McCain, and Romney staffers who just endorsed Harris.

Republican House impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas dismissed by the Senate as Unconstitutional in a party-line vote.

Given that the impeachment was predicated on white supremacist "replacement theory"-type bullshit about the border, this is entirely proper, and that it was a party-line vote is to the shame of every Senate Republican (including Lisa Murkowski, who reportedly voted "present" (coward)).
